Meet the Coaches!
Coach Mike is a graduate of Virginia Tech where he both swam for and helped coach their club team. He started coaching professionally in 2008 for NOVA Aquatics and joined the High Tides in 2021. In addition to experience with year-round swimming clubs, he also has over 10 years of summer league coaching experience. He prides himself on keeping the sport fun while instilling a solid foundation of proper stroke technique and habits. He aims to help children nurture a passion for swimming that will hopefully last a lifetime.

Coach Addison swam for the Charter Colony Crimson Crocs when she was little before moving to Hallsley where she joined the Hallsley High Tides their founding year. This will be Addisonโs 11th year as a Hallsley High Tide. She is also a year round swimmer at NOVA of Virginia Aquatics and a Junior on the Collegiate Schoolโs Varsity swim team. Sheโs lifeguarded for the past two summers at Hallsley and Charter Colony and has previously been a CIT with the High Tides for 4 years. Fun fact: Addison's family has hosted 4 French exchange students throughout the past few years and she even got to briefly study abroad in รpernay, France. While there, a highlight was getting to swim with a local swim club, SNS รpernay!ย

Coach Ellie began swimming at 5 years old for the Walton Park Waves and fell in love with the sport! At the age of 10, she joined the SwimRVA Rapids club team and she has been a proud Rapid ever since. She has enjoyed competing at the elite level at many state championships, Eastern Zone meets, and Futures. This summer, she is looking forward to coaching AND competing as a High Tide! Fun fact: Coach Ellie is a Cincinnati Bengals fan, and she has a beloved dog named Boomer!ย

Coach Ryan has been a year round swimmer since the 2nd grade. One of his favorite moments was when he went to a state competition in Chicago. He's lived in Virginia for 6 years and (in addition to the Hallsley High Tides) has swam for Quest, St. Edwardโs, Nova, and now he's currently on the Benedictine Varsity team. Coach Ryan has been a part of the High Tides for 5 years, and he is super excited to be a coach for his 6th year! Fun fact: Coach Ryan has lived coast to coast and in-between! He was born in San Francisco and lived there for 9 years. He moved to Chicago and lived there for 1 year, and he's been in VA ever since! And he swam in every one of them!ย
